Letter from Fr. Sergio
March 2022
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Wherever we find Hispanos in our archdiocese we find joy, deep catholic faith, willingness to serve, and many other Christian values. That is why it is a privilege for me to coordinate the efforts of the Hispanic Catholic community through the Consejo Hispano of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
As coordinator of the Consejo, it is my role to make sure the entire archdiocese understands and appreciates the gifts that our cultures and talents bring to the rest of our local Church. Also, to promote activities that bring us together and prepare us to answer our call to be missionary disciples.
This is no easy task as it is estimated that the Hispanic Catholic population comprises close to 50% of all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Chicago. I will be relying on members of the Consejo Hispano, priests and laity ministering in our parishes with Hispanic Ministry and others, to ensure the success of the Consejo and this virtual space.
This website and connected social media platforms, will keep you up to date with initiatives and resources to assist you in your parish ministry, containing, for example, information on the Synod, Parishes with Spanish Masses, vocations, and the V Encuentro. We also have an active Facebook page for up-to-date news and information. To keep the website fresh, I will be writing a regular newsletter packed with information that I hope will serve to connect us all and unite us in our shared mission to serve God and His people.
I ask that you review this website and encourage you to contact me to see how we can better serve our Hispanic community through this portal.
I pray that the Consejo Hispano site will serve you well. May God bless you as you become a part of this community.
Blessings,
Fr. Sergio Rivas
